Client: A global MNC FMCG
Duration: 9 months
Objective: Transform workplace culture and physical space to embrace new ways of working, focusing on collaboration, flexibility, and output-driven performance.
Gone are those days when it would take 3-5 years to witness any organizational transformation, whether internally or externally. Transformation is no longer a buzzword—it’s a survival imperative.
Organizations that are aware of this changing landscape and are equipped to undergo changes as and when required survive their competition. Also, transformation is not a broad term that always hinged on massive shifts. Even small-scale and minute internal changes need equal, if not more significant, effort and continuous monitoring than more considerable external changes such as M&A.
One of our clients, an MNC FMCG in Singapore, was undergoing a transformation project that focused on implementing new ways of working within the organization.
While people have varied opinions on change itself, one thing everyone agrees upon is its rigid nature. Change comes suddenly, but embracing it and changing pre-determined ways of working usually encounters much resistance.
Our client knew this and didn’t want it to hinder the smooth implementation of their organizational transformation. That’s when they approached Bridge Et Al. with the requirement of bringing in an advisor to guide them in running the change management project smoothly.
The job of this expert was going to be tough. They would have to get involved in the organization, quickly understand its dynamics and functioning, and give expert recommendations on how to implement, communicate, and promote the new ways of working to the employees—all without this change management project hindering the functioning and, therefore, the organization’s efficiency.
Traditional consulting approaches felt too rigid for this uniquely human challenge. The client needed someone who understood change management theory and the practical realities of transforming workplace culture in an Asian context.
At the heart of this “new ways of working” transformation project was a simple yet powerful question: “What if the office became a place people wanted to come to, not had to come to?” This became the anchor for the principles about what the client was looking for in their ideal consultant.
The client was looking for an expert who would help them in:
It was clear that the new way of working was focused on a people-first approach. So, our job at Bridge Et Al. was not only looking for a transformation consultant but someone who knows the importance of the people of any organization in its growth. At the same time, this consultant also needed the agility to quickly adapt to a new work setting, learn their working style, and work in an ambiguous atmosphere as the organization is going through a crucial time of transformation and many rules would be changing.
After completely understanding the role’s requirements, we matched the client with an expert who would be the best fit to provide guidance, advice, and expertise on change management.
This expert is a transformation expert with a long stint in the corporate world, having worked across leading global enterprises in industries such as manufacturing, infrastructure, and technology in Asia, Europe, and the USA.
During their corporate and consulting career, they have led many projects in areas such as change management, transformation, process improvement, the future of work, post-merger integration, and more.
Our expert supported and advised the project team in achieving objectives, ensuring a successful go-live, and conducting post-implementation reviews.
They conceptualized a plan to implement the transformation, created strategies, and coached the team to implement a new work model aligned with the future of work strategy. They also refined change management plans for the project lifecycle.
Partnering with Bridge Et Al. gave the client the shortest response time: one week. Within that time, we helped them connect with the right fit for the role: a transformation expert who understands uncertainty and offers the best guidance during organizational transformation.
The expert turned out to be the best match for the organization. They provided the right expertise at the right time to make their transformation project successful.
